Dreams are something that is experienced or seen during sleep. There are frightening dreams (nightmares) like being chased by criminals or parting with loved ones, there are also joyous dreams such as achieving goals or getting something you want (good dream). Everyone must have had a dream while sleeping either a sweet dream or a nightmare.
So, Why can humans have dreams during sleep?
By the time we sleep, most of our Brain Cells are in a state of rest. But still there are some nerve cells that are in working condition. Therefore, a dream arises when we are sleeping. Dreams can not be separated from the activities of our daily lives and usually related to the impression and personal experience of our own or the influence of the outside environment such as the story of the novel and drama scenes we’ve ever seen through Television and Film.
There are also Dreams caused by the stimulation of our organs such as holding urine during sleep will lead to the emergence of dreams associated with Toilet (WC). Another example of a dream like a person will often dream of his girlfriend while dating, When having a strong desire to go to a location or desire to eat something, then usually the wishes will be achieved in the dream. Conversely, if we watch a horror movie before going to bed, the possibility of the emergence of frightening dreams when we are in a state of sleep.
Therefore, an Austrian psychologist named Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) argues that Dreams are “The Achievement of a Desire”.
How long is our dream?
According to research scientists, on average, humans spend ¼ (quarter) of their sleep time in a dream. If you have a long dream time (more than 1/4 of sleep), then we will feel tired after waking up.
